Industrial communication for AAEON's smallest Mini PC
AAEON's goal is to raise the bar for what entry-level IoT gateway solutions can offer.

AAEON's UP brand has launched the UP 710S Edge, the company's smallest Mini PC with Intel® Processor N and Wi-Fi support, measuring just 92 mm x 77 mm x 38 mm.
The UP 710S Edge is a compact platform for companies looking to upgrade industrial automation systems. It is available in models with the full Intel® Processor N series (formerly known as Alder Lake-N) and offers an 8-bit GPIO with optional SPI, I2C and PWM - a new addition to the product range.
In addition to its GPIO, the UP 710S Edge also introduces both a COM port for RS-232/422/485 and an M.2 2230 E-Key slot to the series, giving users easy access to Wi-Fi support.
The system I/O comes with three USB Type-A ports with USB 3.2 Gen 2 signals, gigabit Ethernet and HDMI output.
When it comes to operating systems, the UP 710S Edge offers several options, including Windows 11 IoT Enterprise 24H2 LTSC, Ubuntu 22.04.4+ LTS and Yocto 4.0.
"We see the UP 710S Edge as a cost-effective and versatile option for developers looking to upgrade their automation setup," says Irene Lin, Senior Product Manager at UP. "We believe that the additional interfaces we have added, as well as the option of SPI, I2C and PWM over standard GPIO, will give our customers maximum flexibility and value for money by choosing the UP 710S Edge."
