Green transport in practice
At Sensor, we deliver technological solutions to hospitals and other public institutions every day, where quality, reliability and accountability are crucial. Responsibility is not just about the products - it's also about how they are delivered.
That's why we have an increasing focus on electric transport as part of our overall efforts to reduce CO₂ emissions and support more sustainable supply chains.
Why electric transport?
Transport accounts for a significant part of total CO₂ emissions - also in the healthcare sector. By using electric cars for deliveries, CO₂ emissions from transport can be significantly reduced compared to traditional diesel and petrol vehicles.
As a rule of thumb, a diesel van emits around 180-200 g CO₂ per kilometre, while electric vehicles - depending on the electricity mix - can reduce emissions by 50-80 %. Over a year and many deliveries, this makes a real and measurable difference.
Example of CO₂ savings from electric transport
Example (van):
- Average diesel van: approx. 190 g CO₂ per km
- Electric van (DK elmix): approx. 40-80 g CO₂ per km
- CO₂ reduction: 110-150 g CO₂ per km
What does this mean in practice? If a delivery to a hospital is 50 km round trip
Then it equates to:
- Diesel car: approx. 9.5 kg CO₂ per delivery
- Electric car: approx. 2-4 kg CO₂ per delivery
- Savings: approx. 5-7 kg CO₂ per delivery
With 200 deliveries per year, this results in an annual reduction of 1-1.4 tonnes of CO₂ on transport alone.
A sought-after green profile
At the same time, we see that more and more customers are actively seeking suppliers who can document a green focus - both in connection with tenders, ESG reporting and internal climate targets. Transport is a concrete and visible place to start.
By choosing suppliers that are committed to green transport, hospitals and public institutions can:
- Reduce their indirect CO₂ footprint
- Support your own sustainability goals
- Document responsible sourcing
- Send a clear signal about environmental concerns
A natural step for Sensor
For us, the transition to electric vehicles is a natural next step in our work with responsible operations. It's not about quick green messages, but about long-term choices that make sense - both environmentally and operationally.
We see green transport as a complement to what we are already known for: stable deliveries, high quality and solutions that work in critical environments.
